See English-language theatre first

Jil Devresse Théâtre du Centaur

Jil Devresse Théâtre du Centaur

David Harrower’s Blackbird is the first English-language theatre production put on by Théâtre du Centaure.

A play that the New York Times called taut, twisty and provocative, David Harrower’s Blackbird tackles the harrowing subject of paedophilia but, according to the Daily Telegraph, “refuses to draw glib, reassuring or predictable conclusions.”

Commissioned by the Edinburgh International Festival and first performed in 2005, the play later transferred to the Albery Theatre in London.

Here in Luxembourg it is directed by Myriam Muller, the artistic director of the Théâtre du Centaure and stars Jil Devresse as Una, a young woman in her twenties who pays a visit to Ray (played by Jules Werner), who she has not seen in 15 years, when she was twelve and he was forty and they had a “relationship”.

The play opens on 10 November and further performances are on 11, 16, 17, 18, 20, 23, 24, 25,  and 27 November – at 8pm (except on Thursdays and Sundays when it is at 6.30pm)
