The three-day event features a conference, guided tours of mines and a nature walk in Luxembourg’s Mëllerdall geopark.
International Geodiversity Day, which was established by Unesco in 2001, is celebrated on 6 October. Luxembourg’s national museum of natural history is marking the event with nature walks, guided tours, conferences and more.
On Friday 6 October, geodiversity and geoheritage specialist Kevin Page will give a conference on geodiversity and why it is important for society at the natural history museum (in English).
On Saturday 7 October, a nature walk in the Mëllerdall Unesco Global Geopark will take place (in German) as well as a guided visit of the Dhoil mine (in Luxembourgish).
And on Sunday 8 October, a mineralogist will lead a tour of the Martelange mine (in French).
