A shoot-out with police at a toll booth near Lyon at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning has led to the arrest of 4 or 5 people, the French media reported. The men were armed with Kalashnikov machine guns. Among those arrested are the alleged perpetrators of the armed robbery of the Goeres Horlogerie boutique in the rue Philippe II on Tuesday morning.

According to the report, the robbers had managed to flee across the border into France where they took a family hostage in Villefranche. They had stolen a getaway car in the Lyon region before committing the Luxembourg heist, which had hauled items worth close to €1 million. Some of those arrested were already known to police and had spent time in prison.
