- Mathilde Argaud of Largowind has been named the 11th Creative Young Entrepreneur Luxembourg by JCI Luxembourg. Largowind is developing a remote monitoring system for boat owners. The first was one of “10 startups you should know about” in Delano’s June edition.
- Transline Tours, a travel agency which declared bankruptcy in 2015, was ordered by a court in the capital to pay €42,000 in damages and interest to defrauded clients. In 2013, the company sold more than 500 round-trip tickets to Portugal for €295 without having secured the airline seats. The agency then only gave partial refunds to some of the travellers.
- After two-and-a-half years as the Belgium and Luxembourg head of the American electric carmaker, An de Pauw “no longer works with Tesla”, the company has said. The search for a replacement is underway. De Pauw had recently told Paperjam in an interview that she hoped local Tesla sales would double by next spring.
- If proposed international banking rules take effect, European banks would have to put aside between €850m and €900m more in capital reserves. That’s according to Serge de Cillia, head of the ABBL, Luxembourg’s banking trade group. He was speaking after a meeting of the “Basel 4” committee.
- Fernand Ernster has been named the new board chair of the CLC, the business federation which represents the grand duchy’s trade, services and transport sectors.
