TNS Ilres’ questions of the month for May, published on Thursday, focused on attitudes to data protection in the grand duchy.

Not only are seven out of ten respondents concerned about the potential misuse of their online data, but a quarter were ready to take action, by deleting one or more of their social media accounts. What is more, half of respondents said the latest online data breaches had had a significant impact on their online habits. The report found that younger residents, aged from 16 to 24, expressed the least concern on the topic.

On Friday, the General Data Protection Regulation enters into force in all EU member states, setting out clear rules on protecting the data of private individuals. The regulation, which impacts all areas of society, has been the subject of hot debate, largely because of the substantial financial penalties that organisations may face in the event of a data breach.

Delano Magazine’s April edition studied the regulation’s impact in Luxembourg. Check out our video to see what attendees at the April Delano Live event had to say about how the regulation had impact their behaviour.
