The, 1,702-metre square store will be located on rue du Brill, where some 25 people will be employed.

According to a press release, the store will be partially powered using electricity generated from solar panels.

It will also offer electric charging stations for cars and bicycles. Construction works began on Wednesday. The German chain currently employs some 220 people across its nine Luxembourg stores.

According to a 2017 survey by TNS Ilres, Lidl was the fifth most popular supermarket in Luxembourg.
