The publishing house director would lead a growing editorial team that produces Delano and Paperjam.Packshot: Maison Moderne

Luxembourg’s leading independent media company, Maison Moderne, is looking to recruit a director of its publishing house. The post has been held ad interim by Maison Moderne founder Mike Koedinger since September 2020, but he wishes to step down from the operational side of the company to focus on his role as chairman of the board.

The publishing house is set to expand rapidly over the next two years as Maison Moderne continues its transformation under its “challenger today, leader tomorrow” slogan. The current publishing team includes around 40 journalists, web publishers, proofreaders and photographers across the Paperjam and Delano brands. The director will lead the growth of the team and develop independent journalism while guaranteeing compliance with the editorial line.

As a member of the company’s executive committee, the publishing house director will also contribute to business development strategy and coordinate with management as well as with Maison Moderne’s Brand Studio and Paperjam + Delano Business Club.

In addition to leading both digital and print production, the director will also be expected to develop business line revenues and lead audience growth for all products.

Highly talented profile

Candidates will have a very good knowledge of the media, information and communication industry and its challenges, including changes in business models, media consumption trends, technology, markets, benchmarks and best practices.

The company is looking for an excellent team player interested in the journalism professions and defending its independence, while being sensitive to the monetisation of audiences--profitability being the best guarantee of independence for the media.

They should have an ability to appreciate and understand various fields such as art direction, photography and data marketing, and also contribute significantly to the company’s innovation.

As Maison Moderne moves to becoming a bilingual company, fluency in French and English is essential and an understanding of Luxembourgish or German preferred.

The job is advertised (in French) here.
