The ABBL has announced that Yves Maas will take on the role as interim CEO starting 1 December. The position was formerly occupied by Serge de Cillia, but according to media reports he has been on gardening leave since October after falling out with the board. The ABBL says de Cillia has now formally been relieved of his duties and thanked him for his work and his commitment and wished him well for the future.

Maas was president of the bankers’ association between 2014 and 2018 and has served as its vice-president since 2018. He started his career at clearing house Cedel, which later became Clearstream, and has been chairman of the board at Credit Suisse since 2017.

ABBL president Guy Hoffmann said he believed the bankers’ association is in good hands under Maas. “I am convinced that Yves Maas will help us ensure a seamless transition and will prioritise serving our members”.
