Rising star of the Déi Gréng party Djuna Bernard has announced that she will stand for election in the southern constituency at the 2023 parliamentary election. In 2018 Bernard was a candidate in the centre constituency and placed 6th on the Déi Gréng list. She has since become an MP because the top two candidates, François Bausch and Sam Tanson, entered government after the conclusion of coalition talks between Déi Gréng, the DP and LSAP.

The Greens have suffered the loss of two influential politicians in the south--justice and joint deputy prime minister Félix Braz had a heart attack in the summer, and earlier this month the MP and mayor of Differdange Roberto Traversini resigned his posts following controversy surrounding his garden house project.

“I have decided to remain living in the south (something that wasn’t evident one and a half years ago) and to continue my political work there,” Bernard told Luxembourg RTL.
