The health ministry said a few moments ago that there have been 4,032 confirmed covid-19 cases in Luxembourg (up from the 4,027 reported on 4 June). Currently there are 37 active infections (compared to 43 yesterday).

There have been 110 deaths since the outset of the crisis (unchanged). The average age of those infected is 46 and the median age of fatalities is 84.

By the latest count, 31 people are in hospital (unchanged from 3 June), including 2 in intensive care (compared to 3). A total of 931 patients who tested positive for covid-19 have been discharged from hospital (unchanged).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, a total of 83,637 tests have been carried out (up from 82,377).

The Rt_eff effective reproduction number for the grand duchy was 0.52 (unchanged compared to 4 June).

None of these figures include patients transferred to Luxembourg from French hospitals.

Here are the latest figures from neighbouring countries, announced by government sources, as of Thursday 4 June:     

  • Belgium: 58,907 confirmed covid-19 cases (up from a cumulative total of 58,767 confirmed cases the previous day), including 9,566 deaths (up from a total of 9,548 deaths reported the previous day) and 16,112 recovered patients discharged from hospital (up from 16,048 reported the previous day).
  • France: 152,444 confirmed cases (up from 151,677), including 29,065 deaths (compared to 29,021) and 69,976 recovered patients discharged from hospital (up from 69,455).
  • Germany: 182,764 confirmed cases (up from 182,370), including 8,581 deaths (up from 8,551) and an estimated 167,800 recovered patients (up from 167,300).

By the latest count, 31 people are in hospital (compared to 33 reported on 3 June), including 3 in intensive care (compared to 2). A total of 931 patients who tested positive for covid-19 have been discharged from hospital (up from 929).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, a total of 82,377 tests have been carried out (up from 79,484).

Thursday 4 June, 2:50pm

Holidaymakers will be allowed to travel from Luxembourg to the Netherlands starting on 15 June, the Dutch embassy said in a press release emailed to Delano. Travelers from Belgium, Germany and Portugal will also be permitted on that date.

Vacationers from Austria, France and Switzerland will be admitted “from sometime between 15 June and 5 July,” the Dutch embassy stated.

Travel from Denmark, Sweden and the UK is “not yet possible.”

The Belgian government will allow cafés and restaurants to reopen, with safety measures in place, on 8 June. Belgium will fully reopen its borders to Schengen area countries on 15 June (it already started allowing family visits and cross-border shopping on Saturday). Sophie Wilmès, the Belgian prime minister, made the announcements during a press conference this afternoon.
